New event hotels in North Africa
Two new event hotels in North Africa lead this week’s meeting industry supplier news.
Hilton has announced plans to open its first hotel in Casablanca, the Hilton Garden Inn Casablanca Sidi Maarouf.
Construction is set to begin this year for a projected 2021 opening, and plans call for the hotel to be part of a mixed use development with a 550 square meter ballroom. It will also have 118 guest rooms, an additional 300 square meters of event space and three dining options.
The move follows Hilton’s re-entry into Morocco in March 2016 with the opening of the Hilton Garden Inn Tanger City Center.
In Algeria, Marriott International has announced the opening of its seventh hotel, the Sheraton Annaba.
The hotel has over 1,400 square meters of meeting facilities, high-speed Wi-Fi, and a full-service business center, as well as 201 guest rooms, including 15 Executive Suites and a Presidential Suite.
Guests can also enjoy a variety of dining venues ranging from Mediterranean cuisine at Feast to patisserie at the Deli to Italian at Al Pesto, as well as the Hugo Bar. Other amenities include a 24-hour fitness center, an outdoor pool, a Spa and an outdoor tennis court.
