Excellent Presentations at the 3rd Annual SITE Summit
Reports Helen Brewer from the MICE Academy – There are presentations recalled that have the effect of either ensuring concentration or just the reverse.
It is rare a presentation makes one seriously sit-up and take note of a bigger or differing perspective.
Such were the presentations at the SITE Summit held at the Gautrain Raddison Blu.
Two of the presentations that stand-out were Social Media by Francois Muscat of WSI.
Francois’ explanation revolved around the importance of an effective profile together with the methods to gain relevant conversations provided the SITE delegation with a new impetus to use social media more effectively.
Guest speaker Victor Kgomoswana stole the show with his perspective in updating the audience on Regional Africa. Victor’s stance urged management that infiltrating the African continent did not mean making decisions in Sandton or Rosebank.
As a media man, Victor also made it clear that the international reporting from the major networks left a great deal to be desired.
It was riveting stuff – which should make SITE members sit-up and take careful note.
Panel discussions were short and sharp on a variety of subjects. Although the question posed by the Academy in regard to the questionable standard of MICE venue site inspections was channelled for answering to SAA’s Sean Brady – indicated the meaning of the acronym MICE differed substantially between various industry sectors.
All in all an effective morning with a good attendance.
