Site Southern Africa Youth Summit, Cape Town
May 3 @ 8:00 am - 1:00 pm UTC+2
After hosting two successful youth events in Cape Town & Umhlanga SITE Southern Africa have seen the ongoing demand for the youth to engage with their peers and industry professionals. Moreover they have identified the need to better understand the symbiotic relationship between different service specialists in the incentive and event industry.
The event will be aimed at young people (either under 35 years or less than 5 years in the industry) in all aspects of tourism – from hotels, to tour operators, travel agents, event managers, hotel staff, professional conference organisers, DMC’s etc.
The event will start with registration from 08h00 and kick off at 08h30. There will be 11 industry leaders each talking about their unique discipline for 5 minutes. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with the panel after all 11 presenters have concluded their presentations. The idea is to get them to interact with each other as well as the panel, and stimulate their interest in the various disciplines that forms the core of our careers.
Even though the first session is aimed at younger people, it is also open to “the veterans” of the industry. SITE invite “the bosses” to join and network, and share information with the younger delegates. After tea, reconvene to hear what Caroline Ravenall, Keynote speaker, has to share. Her talk will be focused around avoiding the burnout in the fast-pace, demanding working environment.
“The pace of life and the speed of change in our 24 x 7 always on western culture has reached epidemic proportions. To keep pace, organisations demand a lot from their employees, driving higher levels of performance across the board. From senior executives to client services, from middle management to technical support, everyone is required to do more with less leaving many individuals feeling overwhelmed, overworked and saturated as they strive to stay ahead of the game. In this captivating and thought-provoking keynote Caroline candidly shares her own experiences as a high performing executive in the Virgin Group of companies.”
Following a Q & A session with Caroline, a break at 12h00 for more networking, during which a light lunch will be served.
SITE hope to create a forum whereby we can encourage networking between “the rookies” and “the veterans”, whilst creating opportunities for mentorship and young leader development.
Whilst the event is initiated by SITE Southern Africa, it is open to all industry associations, and they hope to see as many rookies and veterans as possible!
